1. About us

Shropshire Quotes (we, us) is a trading name of William Charlesworth-Jones. You can contact us at hello@shropshire-quotes.com.

2. What we do

Shropshire Quotes is an introduction service. You tell us about a home improvement job, and we put you in touch with an independent local installer who covers your area, so they can survey the job and give you a quote. We are not an installer, we do not carry out any work, and we are not a party to any agreement you make with an installer.

3. It is free for you

Using Shropshire Quotes costs you nothing. Installers pay us for introductions. You are under no obligation to accept any quote or to go ahead with any work.

4. What happens when you send an enquiry

  • We pass your details and your answers about the job to one checked installer who covers your postcode, so they can contact you about a quote.
  • We tell you by email which installer we have passed your enquiry to.
  • We may call, email or text you about your enquiry, for example to check the details.
  • We cannot promise that an installer will be available for every job or every postcode. If we cannot find one, we will let you know.

5. Your responsibilities

  • The details you give us must be your own, or given with the permission of the person they belong to, and must be accurate.
  • You must be 18 or over, and the owner of the property or acting with the owner's permission.
  • Please do not send enquiries for testing, as a joke, or for anyone who has not asked for one.

6. The installers

Before an installer receives enquiries from us, we check their trading history, that they hold current public liability insurance, and the accreditation relevant to the work (for example MCS for heat pumps and solar, FENSA or CERTASS for windows). These checks are made at the time the installer joins and are not a guarantee of the quality of their work.

Your contract for any work is with the installer, not with us. The installer is responsible for their quote, their workmanship, their guarantee and their compliance with the law. Please check any quote, contract and guarantee carefully before you agree to it, and get more than one quote if you wish.

7. Grants and funding

Shropshire Quotes is not a government service and we do not award grants. Information on this website about schemes such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme or 0% VAT is general guidance and may change. Eligibility is decided by the scheme, and the installer will confirm whether your home qualifies.

8. Information on this website

We work to keep the information on this website accurate, but it is general guidance and not professional advice for your particular home. Prices and figures are estimates.

9. Our liability to you

We are responsible for providing our introduction service with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for the work, products, advice or conduct of any installer, or for any agreement between you and an installer. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Complaints

If you are unhappy with our service, or with an installer we introduced, email hello@shropshire-quotes.com. We will reply within five working days. We take complaints about installers seriously and stop introducing installers who do not treat customers fairly.

12. Changes and law

We may update these terms from time to time; the version on this page applies to enquiries sent while it is published. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or of Scotland or Northern Ireland if you live there.
